November brings a flurry of furry birthdays and a heavenly one! Our dear friend and Helen’s first mother, Tessie’s birthday was celebrated on November 17 with all the Sven Saw Sisters (and Helen) getting together with Tessie’s sister Susie, niece Katie and great niece Madeline. This is Tess’s second heavenly birthday and our gatherings continue to bring connection and memories. Helen certainly hasn’t forgotten Susie & family, as indicated by her squeal and energized tail wagging.
On the 18th, Rainie had a milestone birthday – 13 years old. The gray on her muzzle gives you a clue on her age, and her cluelessness when you are speaking to her due to some hearing loss but other than that she can play the part of a younger dog with no problem. Chasing frisbees, chasing Keltie who has the frisbee and just the spark in her eye when she greets you – all make for a surprise when people learn her true age. Turning 13 warrants a Burger King hamburger, which all of the girls were thrilled about! Party on!
On the 20th, Kimber had her milestone birthday – 1 year old!! Goodness where did that time go? Her sweet personality continues to blossom and she has become quite the little people pleaser. She’s only one and I wonder how did we ever get along without her! The birthday party with all the cousins is yet to happen, not to worry it will!
Then coming up soon on December 1, Holly will be four years old. I struggle to get my head wrapped around that. I’m starting to see some of the maturation that I was told would happen at the two year old mark. (Not when guests arrive however!) And after waiting so long for her to start growing up, now I don’t want her too! Where did my puppy go??
In follow up to the parasite pity party we have going on – we still have it going on. Three of the four dogs are back on medication for coccidia. The lone wolf is Helen, never mind that she is the one that lives closest to the earth and yet she has been spared from ingesting the pesty parasites that live on dirt & grass. (Maybe there is an advantage to being a princess.) Cold temperatures are known to disrupt parasite production. For once, I am excited to have some chillier temperatures in the evening. If Mother Nature can lend a helping hand here, we all will be most grateful! Meanwhile we medicate the dogs, mop the floors and mindfully pick up poop as soon as it drops. It’s what dog mom’s do!
