If I know someone is coming to the house I will say to Holly & Helen – “there’s a surprize today”. Holly now goes to the window to look outside; Helen tries to erupt into a barking fit. They are both eager and excited until the event occurs.
I’m understanding their glee now! Matthew sent note that he was working in the area, putting a house together on Zimmerman Road. What a surprize! Dogs and I loaded up and went for a drive to find the property lot. I felt a bit guilty taking him away from his work but I could not have him this close without stopping by to see him! To soften him up on the idea, I brought him milk & cookies! The dogs were happy to get out of the car to explore unchartered grounds, always leashed though given the remote wooded area of the lot plus a house propped off the ground with plenty of space underneath for curious dogs to explore. And of course they too were excited to see Matthew. Always a treat, for all of us.
The dogs are loving this time of sharing living space. The backyard is a favorite play area. Keltie & Rainie migrate to the frisbees; Holly to the soccer ball; Helen to a safe spot away from the chaos. To shake things up a bit and not wanting to waste the beautiful weather, we took the dogs on a picnic to Chester Creek Park. One can never practice picnic behavior enough. Other than a few tangles, all went well. No barking outbursts, no whining or fussing. Content and fully aware dogs soaking in the new environment and showing their good canine citizen skills.
Their time together is becoming the norm allowing them to take moments to relax and settle in for awhile. It is known they will have extended time together, no need to cram all the fun into one session. We often find them resting in customary spots sometimes in the strangest positions! When the lights go out, they go out fast! Stop, drop and sleep!
We all have had some cabin time again this week. We had the camper posted on CraigsList, the first go-around it was listed for Free! The interested party was a no-show despite having text his interest and commitment that very morning. That was a bit disheartening but we took it as a lesson. The second go-around, we listed it for $100, hoping to attract a more sincer buyer. Odd how that works, but it did – mission accomplished! The camper was towed away by a delightful couple who were genuinely excited about their ‘project’. They promise to send pictures of the post camper project outcome, we know all to well what the pre-camper project looks like!
Transitions are still happening for us! So typical of the Fall season!
