Holly is 31 months old today!   She quickly approaches the 3 year old mark, the new magic number for her to be a calm, cool and collected dog!  She had one of her best birthday surprizes ever when Dane & Cole were visiting their grandparents that turned into a playdate with Holly.  Holly controlled the narrative, sometimes the game was keep away, other times it was fetch and then other times it was tug.  No matter the game, the boys went with the flow and were fully entertained – and Holly was in her heaven.

Holly also had a morning with her friends, Rainie & Keltie.  Playtime with Rainie has become minimal.  Rainie has little interest in playing chase and gets annoyed with Holly interfering with her frisbee time.  Keltie, however, is her BFF!  The number of games they have and the speed in which they switch is an impressive show of athletism, joyfulness and friendship.

This summer hasn’t been the best cabin season, so far.  The amount of rain has made for soggy and swampy grounds.  DeeAnn & I took a drive there hoping to get the yardwork done but there was too many puddles, deep ones.  Not a good day to mow.  We just got back in the car and returned home.  The dogs never got out of the car, much to their confusion and disappointment.  Their heads looked longingly back at the cabin driveway, then shifted towards us with scowls on their faces. Puddles are not a reason to leave early, by their criteria.

We have high hopes for July to be a warmer and drier month.  Until lake time happens, both Holly and Helen enjoy the fresh air from a car window!  The feeling of freedom is unmatched!  Happy 4th of July!
