My family, those of us descendants of Robert & Ethel Brown, have established a tradition of getting together for a Christmas gathering – in January.  It allows those with their own families to stay close to home on Christmas Eve & Day.  A poll is done to assist in finding a date when the majority of us can attend.  My niece, Julie & her husband Joe, graciously host the event in their lovely home in the central part of the state making the travel about the same distance for everyone.   All of this stacks together nicely for a well attended and a very much enjoyed event.  The head count this year was 23.  The dog count this year was 10.   I could refine that figure further to dogs that remained outside to dogs that were allowed inside to be 3 out/7 in.  Holly was out.  Helen made the cut to be in.   Maybe that is a future New Year’s resolution for Holly but so long as there is excitement, food, table tops, couches, open floorplans and kids it is an absolute order that Holly remain outside.   And that is ok.  Helen has her time to shine inside, soaking in the pampering not just from the younger girls but I saw a few older nephews holding her and loving her up as well.  Both dogs go home content, exhausted and feeling blessed to have shared time and joy at the famiy Christmas party.  As do I!
