The first month at the Harvey house was filled with cleaning, unpacking and arranging furniture (amongst other things). The second month has been about showing our friends what all our work has produced! Today was Steve’s visit. We had three of the four dogs barracaded in the bedroom. Rainie was the official greeter. After a tour of the top floor, the rest of the dogs were given clearance to see our company. All the dogs know Steve, Holly perhaps better than the others. Steve checks on my cat, Gracie, when I am away on long day trips. Sometimes that includes letting Holly & Helen out of the kennel and hosting some playtime in the backyard. Holly associates Steve with frisbee playing so I knew we had to help her transition with Steve being inside the house and no frisbee involved. It took some corrections, commands and time but it was not long until Holly was laying casually, along with all the other dogs, while we visited around the table.
After a nice visit, we had our photo shoot with all the dogs cooperating nicely. They are getting accustomed to the drill of lining up, staying and looking pretty. Looking at the camera is a stretch. They hold their own little protest about that. Holly generally refuses to turn her head to the camera, because of our asking her to do so. But not wanting to miss out on anyting, she instead rolls her eyes in the direction of the photographer. I’m finding myself hoping she does it now because she looks so darn mischeavous, her true self! What better way to have your photo turn out to be!
