The housewarming gatherings keep happening!  Lana treated DeeAnn & I to a housewarming supper, as well as to some awesome gifts, on an evening after her workday.  When Lana gets together with Deeann & I that means there are some happy dogs close by!  The six cousins – Rainie, Keltie, Kooper, Kimber, Holly and Helen – are together sharing time and experiences.  With the Harvey house now having a fenced in yard, they are free to roam, explore, play, or relax as they choose.  Kooper is exploring the fencelines making sure no perpetrators are loitering.  Helen is sniffing the lower perimeter and staying close to the flower beds, dropping down to roll in something dead in the dirt.  Rainie, Keltie, Kimber and Holly rotate with how they engage and entertain each other.  Sometimes it includes a frisbee, sometimes a stick, other times chase and peridocially it is just hanging out.  With how well they get along and how diverse their interests are, it allows us to relax and enjoy the evening by simply sharing time together.

No doubt though, all of them keep close tabs on each of their Mom’s.  They know when the screendoor is opened, when a gate gets shut, a car is started or when a bag of treats is opened.   As much as they stay in tune with each other, they also are aware of what is happening in the area.  If one notices something, soon all notice it.   Inside the house presents a bit more independence from each of them.  Occasionally a review of house rules is needed.  Mostly,  they snoop, explore, pull some toys out, but eventually it ends with finding a spot to lay down and rest.   It’s a special treat for us when the time comes where they are all content and ready to settle in and quietly enjoy sharing space together.  It’s often said a tired dog is a good dog but I think it is also fair to say that a socially content dog is a happy dog.   And we have happy dogs!

My friend, Katie, had a birthday.  She is one month older than me!  We had our traditional luncheon and after she visited with Holly & Helen.  Always a treat for the dogs to have their Katie time!   As it is for me too!

Socially content makes more than just the dogs happy!
