June is in full swing and that includes trips to the cabin.  DeeAnn & I work on cabin prep.  The border collies and golden retriever play and play. The dachshund swims.  Today was the day for the first pontoon ride of the summer.  Battery was charged, gas in the tank, and the lake was smooth as glass.  The lull of the motor puts Rainie and Holly to sleep, they calm down right away.  Keltie roams the pontoon looking to catch a good sighting of something interesting.  Helen sits, wrapped in a towel, soaking in the warm sun and enjoying the ride.  Today’s ride was short, but absolutely beautiful.  The sky was a stunning blue and the greenery this year is like a rain forest.  It might have been the first ride of the season, but DeeAnn parked the pontoon perfectly in one attempt.  One would think she had been parking pontoons everyday all winter long.  Like riding a bike, I guess, though it doesn’t work that way for me.

Holly & Helen have spent enough time together now where it seems they view themselves as a pair.   At the lake, Holly routinely goes into the lake and checks on Helen as she swims laps her leash allows her to reach.  In the backyard, I often find them laying near each other, a change for Helen who used to park herself near whatever door or gate I last went through.   They are not playmates, but they are becoming companions – when Holly is not plunking Helen on the head with her front paws teasing the snot out of her.   It makes their sisterhood complete!
