Our new friend, Lisa, stopped by to see how we decorated the house she sold to us. Joining Lisa was her 10 month old French bulldog, Hazel. Lisa helped in selling DeeAnn’s house in 2406 and subsequently in the purchase of the Harvey house. She has seen DeeAnn’s furniture in both homes and was very complimentary of how it looked and was arranged in the new house. Both DeeAnn & I took a liking to Lisa immediately upon meeting her at the Home Show in Duluth in April 2024. Once she started working on our behalf as a real estate agent we grew to like her even more. During the 8 months we worked with her a lot of life happened. Lisa went through the unbearable tragedy of losing her son, only 25 years old. It’s a tragic story, not one for this blog. As result, a lot of sharing and caring happened leading to a trusted friendship.
Lisa had gotten a French Bulldog puppy, named Hazel, just a few days prior to her son’s sudden death. Hazel was with during many of our house tours, I think she may have even remembered us when she came to visit at Harvey. Her 10 month old mind is busy, happy and full of life. We had the dogs barracaded, Hazel right at the gate stirring the pot for someone to come out and play. We picked Keltie first but in a short period of time with a puppy in her face, she clearly told Hazel (and DeeAnn) that she was done babysitting. Helen came out for an introduction, that too was cut short. Helen got her snappers going, a facade desiring Hazel will believe there is danger. Then we tried Holly and it was a match made in heaven! Round and round, up and down, tug then keep away, keep away then tug – off they went circling in the upper level of the Harvey house. Little Hazel starting snorting for air so the fun was stopped, I do believe Holly was most grateful that it was. I’m eager to see how Holly & Hazel play in an outdoor area. No doubt it will lead to a couple of very tired pups.
Holly has met two new friends – Kimber and Hazel – in a short period of time. It’s fun to see her make new friends, though she was a bit more leery with Kimber than Hazel. Interestingly enough when in Home Depot, Holly is cautious and reserved with other dogs. The other night a young couple had three large dogs in the store, all peaceful and compliant. Holly wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of them, to the point where she would stop to peak around the corner of each aisle to see if the herd was coming our way. Somehow they came from behind, once Holly saw this she was dragging me down the aisle. The young man gave a shout stating they would hang back until we left. I managed to get a wave out to him before Holly had me around the corner and out of sight.
Seems she feels she has already made two new friends since January 1, her resolution has been met.
